Graduate Research Assistantship on the Societal Implications of New and Emerging Technologies | Start Date: Fall 2025
The Public Interest Technology Lab at Virginia Tech is seeking a motivated and collaborative PhD student to join our team. Our mission is to advance research, education, policy, and practice focused on the governance, design, and deployment of emerging technologies in ways that serve the public interest. The lab bridges departmental, disciplinary, sectoral, and cultural boundaries to produce actionable knowledge and inform public policy, all aimed at fostering a fair, free, just, and equitable society.
The selected PhD student will work within a highly collaborative, multi-institutional team of faculty, students, and stakeholders. Candidates with interests in science, technology, and society; the biopsychosocial impacts of digital technologies; sustainability; resilience; or social and environmental justice are encouraged to apply.
